display tables
There There was a wonderful opportunity to design multiple pieces to fit the spatial needs and aesthetic of this beautifully crafted lifestyle shop. We worked closely on design to accomplish a specific aesthetic while working within a desired budget. All the display tables and custom slatted bench are made from natural ash and finished with the vegetable-based raw matte Osmo.
Bench Seat
This Flat Sawn White Oak bench seat is a design collaboration with the extremely talented Assembly A&B. This piece creates a beautiful entry point moment in tandem with the desired functionality of providing tasteful shoe storage.
dining Table
This Rift White Oak dining table designed by Chad Harding of Harding Huebner measures at 10 feet in length. The split top elegantly balances the solid legs and key hole letting light through while supporting the lower stretcher. This dining table beautifully compliments its space.
Custom Project Guide
Below is a general guide to each phase when producing a custom project. However, each project is tailored to your needs and may stray from this timeline. Our priority is to be transparent and communicative at every step.
001
Contact
If you are inspired and would like to own a KERR custom piece, or have a custom vision to create, please fill out our contact sheet or reach out through hello@kerrwoodworking.com. We aim to respond within a 24 hour period to proceed with the following steps.
002
Gather Information
Some clients come to us with a general idea or a defined concept or drawing. As we begin our conversation we gather design inspiration, the functional and spatial requirements of the piece, material choice, and the amount you would like to invest. It is our goal to balance all components to fit our clients needs.
003
Secure the Project
Based on this gathered information*, the chosen design approach, and approved functionality and dimensions, we will then provide an estimate to be reviewed. Once approved, a deposit invoice will be sent to secure the project on Bryan’s production schedule so he can focus his full attention on the required needs of the piece or pieces.
004
Pre-Production
Once these steps have been completed, and should the client wish, Bryan can also provide a simple rendering of the custom piece to help the client visualize the finished product. We will also provide samples for final material and finish choice approval.
005
Production
Fabrication will begin once all previous components have been approved. Should the client decide to implement any changes during or post-production a change order will be provided to the client with any additional costs that would be approved and applied to the final invoice.
006
Project management communication
Clear and continuous points of contact will be provided as we manage the custom piece through every step. Once the delivery or shipping has been scheduled, the final invoice will be provided.
007
Local delivery or freight shipping service
If you are local to the Asheville area, custom pieces qualify for free delivery. If you are within a 2 hour radius of Asheville, custom projects will be delivered by truck. THERE THERE
“I run a design/build company here in Asheville that builds high-end custom homes and we've had the good fortune to work with Kerr Woodworking on a number of projects. Bryan and Erin run a really smooth operation with great communication and super accurate scheduling. Bryan is one of Asheville's great craftsmen with exceptional skills and a really great eye for details and finishes. I love it when we have the opportunity to collaborate, because I know it will be fun and have great results. I really can't recommend them enough and look forward to working with them for many years to come.”
